What is Claude Cowork?
Getting Started with Claude Cowork
Claude Cowork is Anthropic’s team workspace for Claude. Think of it as the difference between using a single chatbot and running a small team of AI specialists who know your business, your tools, and your way of working.
In a regular Claude conversation, you start from zero every time. Cowork changes that. You install plugins matched to your role, connect the tools your team already uses, and add skills that encode specific workflows. The result is a workspace where Claude shows up already calibrated to the work you actually do.
What’s inside a Cowork workspace
Three things stack together to make Cowork useful:
Plugins. Pre-built bundles of tools, agents, and skills focused on a role or domain. A sales plugin might wire up your CRM, your prospecting tool, and a “draft outreach” skill all at once. A marketing plugin handles SEO audits, content drafts, and campaign planning. You pick the plugins that match what you do.
Tool connections. Cowork connects to the systems where your work already lives: Slack, Notion, Gmail, HubSpot, Salesforce, Linear, Figma, Google Drive, and dozens more. Once connected, Claude can read from and write to these systems directly inside conversations. No more copy-pasting context.
Skills. Reusable, parameterized workflows you can invoke by name. A skill might be “summarize this meeting transcript and post the action items to Slack” or “audit this landing page against our brand guidelines.” Skills can be company-built, role-built, or community-shared.
Why it matters
The fastest way to be productive with AI is to stop re-explaining your context every time you open a new conversation. Cowork is the answer to that problem: a persistent workspace where Claude already knows what you do, what tools you use, and how you like to work.
By the end of this short course, you’ll have your own Cowork workspace set up, at least one plugin installed, and one skill running end-to-end on your real work.
